At Jazz Vermont, Band Camp for Grownups, you will be joining one of our 6 bands. If you join one of our 4 big bands, you will be playing in a section with other players, playing the music of Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Marsalis, Gillespie, McConnell and more. If you join one of our smaller bands, the octet, or nonet, you will be playing great charts by the masters. The Bands Rehearse every day in the morning and the evening each for 2 1/2 hours. You will also be participating in section rehersals every afternoon for about an hour.

Our Trumpet guest artist is Mark Van Cleave. Mark is lead trumpet with the Smithsonian Jazz Orchestra, was the musical director for Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey's circus for three years, has recently played with numerous top groups and made a guest appearance at the White House. Mark teaches privately and has an active website for trumpet related activities.

As a Trumpet player at Jazz Vermont you also can attend our daily improvisation workshop taught by Jerry Bergonzi. Jerry Bergonzi is a world renowned tenor saxophonist and has written 6 books on jazz improv applicable to ALL instruments. His books include, Melodic Structures, Pentatonic Scales, BeBopScales and Jazz Rhythms.

As a Trumpet player at Jazz Vermont you can also have a private lesson with Mark Van Cleave scheduled during the week. (There is a separate charge for private lesson). If you have any questions please call us (800)242-8785.
