At Jazz Vermont, Band Camp for Grownups, you will be joining one of our 6 bands. If you join one of our 4 big bands, you will be playing in a section with other players, playing the music of Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Marsalis, Gillespie, McConnell and more. If you join one of our smaller bands, the octet, or nonet, you will be playing great charts by the masters. The Bands Rehearse every day in the morning and the evening each for 2 1/2 hours. You will also be participating in section rehersals every afternoon for about an hour.

Our Upright Bass clinician is Glendon Ingalls, bass and trumpet player with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble. He is a Vermont music educator with chops and a great approach to jazz bass. Glendon has been a Jazz Vermont clinician from the beginning and has continued to bring great things to our program each year. Glendon directs one of the big bands.

As an Upright Bassist at Jazz Vermont you also can attend our daily improvisation workshop taught by Jerry Bergonzi. Jerry Bergonzi is a world renowned tenor saxophonist, has written 6 books on jazz improv applicable to ALL instruments. His books include, Melodic Structures, Pentatonic Scales, BeBopScales and Jazz Rhythms.

As an Upright Bassist at jazz vermont you can also have a private lesson with Mark Van Cleave scheduled during the week. (There is a separate charge for private lesson). If you have any questions please call us (800)242-8785.
