In Upright Bass and Bass Guitar at Jazz Camp, Band Camp for Grownups, you will be joining one of our 8 bands. If you join one of our 3 big bands, you will be playing in a section with other players, playing the music of Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Marsalis, Gillespie, McConnell and more. If you join one of our smaller bands, the octet or nonet, you will be playing great charts by the masters. The Bands Rehearse every day in the morning and the evening each for 2 1/2 hours. You will also be participating in section rehearsals every afternoon for about an hour.Our Upright Bass and Bass Guitar clinician is Glendon Ingalls, bass and trumpet player with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble. He is a Vermont music educator with chops and a great approach to jazz bass. Glendon has been a Jazz Camp clinician from the beginning and has continued to bring great things to our program each year. Glendon directs one of the big bands.

As an Upright Bassist and Bass Guitarist at Jazz Camp you also can attend our daily improvisation workshop taught by Jerry Bergonzi. Jerry Bergonzi is a world renowned tenor saxophonist, has written 6 books on jazz improv applicable to ALL instruments. His books include, Melodic Structures, Pentatonic Scales, BeBopScales and Jazz Rhythms.

As an Upright Bassist and Bass Guitarist at Jazz Camp you can also have a private lesson with Mark Van Cleave scheduled during the week. (There is a separate charge for private lesson). If you have any questions please call us (800)242-8785.

First time upright bassists and bass guitarists at Jazz Camp can attend for $1,229.00 (musician shared room), $1,479.00 (musician private room) or $999.00 (musician commuter*) at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI. Regular price for a shared room is $1,499.00. This offer cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions and applies to first time upright bassists only.
